Well, I must have not yet recovered from the flight when I took these pix as I have no idea where Diana or Sunny were sitting and wonder why I didn't take more pictures....I do remember that the PowerPoint slide show by Dorsa was great so I must have not been totally spaced out. Words of wisdom: do not over medicate with tranquilizers...try to get into some sort of Zen zone sans meds...

More and more birthdays
It seems all this blog is about is birthdays with an occassional foray (sp?) into adventures in semi decorating. Yes, there was another birthday celebration - this time for my youngest grandchild - the little guy Patrick Christopher Foy III - who turned 1 on July 15 but we had the party on July 12 in Lake Geneva, WI. A baseball themed event featuring Milwaukee Brewers and Chicago White Sox decorations. Lots of fun for everyone - golf cart rides, boat rides, beach fun, games, bags, and treats. Fortunately had electricity was restored after a near 12 hour black-out just prior to the party - nothing really to worry about if not for the need for running water - especially for toilets and sinks.

Another Birthday!
Yes, another birthday, only this one is mine. Today marks 61 years - yikes! My grandmother was 61 when I was a freshman in high school - and she seemed REALLY old.
And today I retired from desktop publishing the parish Sunday bulletin - after 14 years I decided I had enough of the weekly deadlines. What a relief! Now all I have to worry about is raising money for the parish grade school, putting together promotional brochures for the grade school, getting out press releases to the local media about the grade school, editing the monthly grade school newsletter, and re-creating a 20 year data base of alumni and donors that was lost in a freaky server crash. Hmmmm....maybe I should have retired from this job instead.

More Birthdays
A low key birthday party for twin grandchildren on Sunday, June 1, 2008, where cake and ice cream were served, a lively game of wiffle ball was played in the yard, bikes, skateboards, roller skates, and scooters were tested by various persons, and those gathered chatted and tipped a glass or two, managed to bring forth a huge quantity of gifts for the birthday children. Words of wisdom on this event: kids will always get LOTS of gifts from adult relatives regardless of the designated level of the party.

Probibilities and Possibilities
What is the probibility that a 60+ year old grandma (me) and her 1 year old granddaughter would wear the same color sweater to the one year old's birthday party without first calling ahead to discuss sweater colors? Seemingly slim - especially since my granddaughter's language abilities do not include discussing fashion and colors. But by sheer happenstance my granddaughter and I DID wear the very same color (pink/fushia cable knit) sweaters to her birthday party this weekend. She of course looked very much cuter and younger than I. Words of wisdom on this serendipidous(sp?)occurance: clothing color choices are random acts of ageless possibilities.

The Perils of Knotty Pine and White Paint
Attempting to brighten up the dreary 1950's basement I applied white paint to three knotty pine panels (3 out of hundreds - perhaps several hundreds!). Uncle Kevin, when he finally noticed these three slim panels of white after three days, became apoplectic(sp?)- steam shooting out from his ears and nose and eyes blazing fire. Stamp, stamp, stamp of the feet and pound, pound, pound, up the stairs - not even stopping to turn off the TV or even finish watching his show. Words of wisdom: 1. If you are living with a male and there is knotty pine in your home - learn to embrace it as a permanent decorative feature. It seems to be the decor of choice for most men - well, not Vern on the house trading spaces channel - but he's probably gay. 2. If you are planning on purchasing a new home - with a male - DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING WITH KNOTTY PINE PANELING.
